WASHINGTON (AP) – A prime Republican aide says the House will vote subsequent week on two immigration payments. The plan comes after GOP moderates and conservatives failed to achieve settlement on a compromise measure.
AshLee Strong is the spokeswoman for Speaker Paul Ryan. She says the votes will head off a petition moderates have been pushing that might drive votes on different immigration payments that they like.
Republicans say one of many payments will likely be a strongly conservative measure with out a means for younger “Dreamer” immigrants delivered to the U.S. illegally to develop into residents. The different will provide citizenship for these immigrants like moderates need, plus sturdy border safety language conservatives need.
Strong says Republicans will talk about the plan at a closed-door assembly on Wednesday.
