Japan Pledges $1.5bn in Aid for Syria, Iraq Refugees

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe today pledged $1.5bn in aid to help refugees from Syria and Iraq and to support peace building efforts in the Middle East and Africa.

The package includes $810m to assist refugees and internally displaced people in Syria and Iraq — triple the amount Japan provided last year. It also provides $750m for peace building in the Middle East and Africa.
