A police patrol automobile was set ablaze on Wednesday by irate business motorcyclists at Ibeshe in Ikorodu space of Lagos, because of the loss of life of a fellow bike rider.

According to reviews, some policemen allegedly precipitated the loss of life of the motorcyclist, also referred to as ”Okada” man.

The incident occurred at Baale junction in Owode space of Ibeshe, Ikorodu.

Trouble was mentioned to have began on Tuesday night time when a patrol workforce from Ibeshe Division allegedly engaged one of many motorcyclists in a sizzling chase for failure to pay 20 Naira.

“Following his loss of life, his colleagues mobilised themselves on Wednesday and attacked a police workforce they sighted earlier than setting the patrol van ablaze.

“The policemen ran for safety in different direction back to the station located on NPA road, Ebute Ipakodo.”

Reacting to the incident, spokesman of the police in Lagos, SP Chike Oti, mentioned 63 motorcyclists allegedly concerned within the burning of their automobile have been arrested.

“The CP Lagos has directed that the 63 Okada riders be arrested for burning the police vehicle and that they should be charged to court for arson,” he mentioned.

“As he (motorcyclist) approached the police pin down level, the police workforce noticed that he was carrying a passenger with a massive bag positioned between him and the rider.

“And so that they flagged him down however the motorcyclist elevated his velocity to be able to evade police scrutiny.

“Sadly, he ended up in a ditch and passed on. Meanwhile his associate with the suspicious bag vanished into the thin air.”
