More than 100 college students of Idogbo Secondary School in Benin, the Edo state capital, have been trafficked to Libya within the final 4 months.
Solomon Okoduwa who's Governor Godwin Obaseki’s Senior Special Assistant on Human trafficking and unlawful migration revealed this on Sunday in Benin throughout an advocacy program.
As said by Okoduwa, findings confirmed that the varsity has turned a breeding floor for human traffickers.
He nevertheless, mentioned, “Henceforth, report anybody who tells you to journey to Europe. They are merely taking you thru Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea and you could ultimately find yourself in Libya.
“The variety of college students which have been trafficked out of your faculty on this brief interval is overwhelming.
“The truth is that many of them might have been imprisoned there or facing one challenge or the other.”
Okoduwa famous that, “Taking the route of Sahara Desert and different unlawful routes is hellish.
“Many died of starvation, many have been drowned within the Mediterranean Sea looking for greener pastures.
“Worst nonetheless, the households of these folks that died on their journey have been made to pay for the journey bills, when unknown to them their family members have gone to the nice past.
“If anyone tells you to travel abroad through Libya, tell him or her capital ‘NO’. If you must travel for any reason, travel the right way.”
