After updating the MDX for 2016MY with new equipment, Acura has announced plans to unveil a new version of the SUV in late March, at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
The model is described as "redesigned and reengineered" and is said to be visually different than its predecessor, featuring new convenience and comfort features, as well as new powertrain technology.
"We're sharpening our focus on the Precision Crafted Performance DNA of the Acura brand and the 2017 MDX will integrate new styling elements and powertrain technology that takes us another step in that direction", commented Executive VP of American Honda, John Mendel.
The 2017 Acura MDX was designed by the company's studio in Torrance, California and it will be produced at the Lincoln, Alabama, facility, alongside Honda Pilot, Odyssey and Ridgeline. From early next year, an additional production source will be added at East Liberty, Ohio, after an $85million investment.
The East Liberty Plant currently assembles the RDX SUV, the Honda Crosstour and CR-V. Both factories will use domestic and globally sourced parts for the 2017 MDX production.
Further details on Acura's best-selling SUV, which topped 50,000 units in each of the past three years, will be released on March 23, when it will debut in New York.
