Another model year, another special package from Ford, which this time, has prepped the XLT Sport appearance kit for its 2017 Explorer SUV.
To be displayed for the first time in public at this weekβs 2016 Chicago Auto Show, the package builds on the existing mid-level XLT trim adding some visual flair both inside and out, as the Blue Oval believes thatβs what buyers are looking for in SUVs these days.
βOur Sport Appearance philosophy is rooted in the fact that we know exterior appearance is the No. 1 consideration in SUV purchase decisions,β said Omar Odeh, Explorer brand marketing manager. βThe XLT Sport Appearance Package is a dramatic offering that gives customers another attractive option.β
On the exterior, the XLT Sport kit endows the Explorer with βMagnetic Grayβ colored 20-inch alloys, grille, mirror caps and rear appliquΓ©, together with black body side cladding, roof rack, and an βExplorerβ badge splashed across the hood.
In the cabin, it adds a combination of Dark Earth Gray leather and lighter Earth Gray Miko suede for the seats and door trim inserts with contrast stitching, plus bespoke floor mats.
Pricing and availability should be announced at the Chicago Auto Show.
