The Police in Enugu State has confirmed the mysterious death of a 22-year-old bricklayer, identified as Akabuike Onyedika.

The deceased, who lived at Umunkpume Orba in Udenu local government area of Enugu State, committed suicide (picture) over yet to be ascertained reasons.

a news agency learnt that Onyedika hung himself on a cashew tree located inside a nearby bush shortly after coming back from work.

As stated by a statement from the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ebere Amaraizu, the deceased was sighted by operatives of the command after he committed suicide.

Amaraizu disclosed that the command had commenced investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the sad development, adding the dead body of the deceased had been deposited at Prince Eze Hospital mortuary Obolloafor.

He said in the statement that “the deceased, one Akabuike Onyedika of about 22 years never knew that his exit from the world would have been so untimely.

“Before now, the deceased has been hale, hearty and always engaged in his bricklaying profession. He was sighted by a team of police men where he hung himself under a cashew tree in the bush.

“Akubuike Onyedika, who is believed to be from Isiukwuato Abia State and a bricklayer living at Umunkpume Orba in Udenu local government area of Enugu state was said to have gone out and never seen until security operatives were alerted, who upon information, conducted a search where the deceased was seen hanging under a cashew tree with a rope around his neck.

“A full scale investigation has commenced into the incident, while the dead body of the deceased is now deposited at Prince Eze Hospital Mortuary Obolloafor for necessary action.”
