As stated by a source, an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Kubwa on Friday sentenced a 22-year-old tiler, Daddy Christopher to eight months imprisonment for stealing a Nokia phone.
The Judge, Mohammed Marafa, however gave him an option of N8,000 fine.
The convict, a resident of Area 1, Garki, Abuja was charged with Criminal trespass and theft.
As stated by the report filed at the Kubwa Police Station, Christopher, on October, 23, entered the premises of the complait, Jeremiah Akoyeri of Bricks City, Kubwa, and stole a Nokia phone valued at N18,000.
The convict, was however arrested while he was trying to escape, and the phone was recovered from him.
Christopher pleaded guilty to the charges.
The police prosecutor, Sandra Oparaugo, had informed the court that the offences contradict Sections 342 and 288 of the Penal Code.
