Kano State Police Command, today, recovered 224 cows, 24 sheep and one dog from cattle rustlers, operating within Gomo Forest in Sunmaila Local Government Area of Kano State.

Briefing journalists within Gomo Forest, the state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Katsina, said shortly after the command received a tip-off, security operatives swooped on the forest, where the bandits allegedly opened fire on the security agents.

Following a gun duel with the police, which reportedly lasted for a few hours, Katsina said the police successfully recovered no fewer than 224 cows, 24 sheep, one goat and one dog from the cattle rustlers.

He said the body of one of the hoodlums was later uncovered beside a river bank.

As stated by the CP, the security operatives had succeeded in providing adequate security in most of the forests within the state. He assured the people that the command would continue to deal ruthlessly with cattle rustlers as well as undesirable elements, who hindered the wheel of progress in the state.

The Police boss handed over 224 cows, 24 sheep and one dog recovered from rustlers to a member of the State House of Assembly, Zubairu Hamza.
