The Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure, says a total of 2,675 students of the institution will graduate in the forthcoming convocation ceremony.
The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university, Prof Adebiyi Daramola, disclosed this during a press briefing heralding the 27th convocation ceremony of the school precisely coming up on Saturday, 21, 2014.
Daramola, who spoke through the Chairman, Planning Committee of the programme, Prof James Olaniyi, explained that the university would also award certificate to 1,657 postgraduate students for the 2014/2015 academic session.
While giving the breakdown of the graduands for this session, the VC stated.2,675 would be awarded First Degree, 875, Postgraduate Diploma, 709 Masters Degree, 115 Diploma and 73 Ph.D.
He stated out of the total number of First Degree graduands, no fewer than 28 students came out with First class from various departments of the institution, while 807 graduated with Second Class Upper, 1,324 with Second Class Lower, Third Class 469, while 47 students finished their programmes with Pass.
As stated by him, during the one-week long ceremony, some projects would be commissioned on the campus of the institution.
Honorary awards would also be conferred on the former Vice President of the federation, Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme and the Emir of Bauchi, His Royal Highness, Dr Rilwan Suleiman Adamu, for their contributions to the development of education in the country.
The ceremony would feature award night, novelty match, career talk, cultural activities, among others.
