Nigerian Pop star, 2Face Idibia, was recently in Accra, capital of Ghana, to raise funds for premature babies in the country.

2Face joined ‘LittleBigSouls’, an international charitable organization, to hold a fundraising event at Alisa Hotel, Ghana, on Saturday, November 14.

The 4th annual fundraising event which was themed, ‘African Royalty,’ and dubbed ‘Angel Ball’, seeks to raise money to complete the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) centre at the Tema General Hospital and also to set up a new KMC centre of excellence.

Speaking with 233livenews at the airport on Friday, the Nigerian singer called for more support for premature babies in the country saying that the lives of preterm babies can be saved with the right medical support and adequate financial commitment.

As stated by the co-founder of LittleBigSouls, Edith Uyovbukerhi, the objective of the event is to ‘do more to save our babies by promoting and focusing on low-cost interventions to particularly KMC.’

She added: ‘We still need critical care equipment for our NICUs, for babies too tiny and too sick and we continue to make that a focus of our fundraising.’

‘Kangaroo Mother Care’ is a low-cost intervention which encourages skin to skin contact between new mothers and preemies as a proven way to improve breathing, body temperature, feeding and bonding in the stable newborns.
