At least 30 people have been rendered homeless and property worth millions of naira destroyed following a fire incident.
The incident which occured at number 11, Abule-nla, Ebute-Meta, was stated to have started around 11pm yesterday. Although no life was lost, properties and valuables were consumed in the flames.
As stated by a witness, the fire was caused by power surge that affected a shop in the same building.
“Last night, when power was restored, we noticed smoke coming out from the shop in the building. It was the voice of a young girl we heard that made us know that it was a fire.
“We immediately alerted the fire service which was nearby, but they delayed a bit. We tried to put out the fire but no lives was lost, ” the witness stated.
At the scene of the fire incident today, men from the Lagos State Emergency Management (LASEMA) were at work.
A LASEMA official told a correspondent that there was no casualties recorded at the time they arrived for assessment and the cause of the incident is still yet unknown.
