As the Premier League season fast approaches, Wolverhampton Wanderers are preparing to make their return to England's top tier after six years in the Championship.
Ever since their triumphant promotion in April, there has been a growing excitement of how the Midlands club will fair. Wolves have made their intensions clear that they not only want to survive, but compete in the Premier League.
Here are four reasons they will avoid relegation this campaign.
4. Style of Play
Anyone who glimpsed at the Championship last season would've witnessed the brilliant football Wolves produced.
Playing with a 3-4-3 formation, Wolves relied on high wing-backs in Barry Douglas and Matt Doherty to provide width and start attacks. Added to the pace of wingers Hélder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro, Wolves were able to counter quickly and get behind defences to deadly effect.
This system, if implemented again can be effective, especially away from home against superior sides.
3. Impressive Signings
Wolves have continued to be proactive in the transfer market. They have snapped up Portuguese number one Rui Patricio from Sporting CP, having already captured Benfica striker Raul Jimenez on loan to add more quality to their frontline.
More pertinently, the club acted decisively to make loan moves permanent for last season regulars Diogo Jota, Willy Boly and Léo Bonatini.
The impressive business has signalled a sign from the Wolves hierarchy that they aren't prepared to sit on their laurels, and want to push on next campaign.
2. Ruben Neves
One of the signings of last summer turned out to be the jewel in Wolves' promotion charge last season.
Netting several stunning goals helped Neves be named player of the season from the supporters, as well as the club itself. The 21-year-old's form has attracted interest from some of Europe's top clubs, and the Premier League is the best place to continue his development.
Wolves need Neves to replicate his success and if he does, he could become the star turn that elevates them to a whole new level of success.
1. Nuno Espirito Santo
Charismatic coach Nuno Espirito Santo has helped transform Wolves since taking over the reigns last summer.
Having the backing of an ambitious board helps, but it was Nuno's ability to identify and execute a vision so quickly that was impressive.
The fiery sides of his character will make him a great addition to the Premier League's cast of touchline characters. It is Nuno's tactical nouse and pedigree that will get the points needed to secure a second season though, with the former Porto manager's credentials ready to be tested on the big stage.
