James Maddison has made a big decision this summer, joining Leicester City from Norwich in order to have a crack at the Premier League.

Fulham, Southampton and West Ham had also registered interest in the youngster - who scored 15 goals in the Championship last season - before his move, while he had been courted by the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham in the past.

Foxes fans will be dying to see him in action, so here's four things you should know about the Β£22m man...

1. He's the New Dele Alli?

Maddison's rise to the top of English football has seen him compared to Tottenham and England star Dele Alli.

At the age of 21, the England U21 international has the air of someone who has been around for a while, he has made 113 senior appearances in his career already and is someone that appreciates that such a feat would not have been possible had he risen up through the ranks at one of the big clubs.

Maddison who is seven months younger than Alli, has followed the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder's path through the lower leagues and hopes to prove like Alli, that there in no better learning experience than playing down in League One at a young age.

Maddison has demonstrated that he possesses the same resilience and audacity as Alli thanks to their shared footballing education.

2. He Took the Long Road to the Top

Maddison made his first team debut for Coventry City in 2014, at the age of 17, and has been playing first team football ever since. Conscious of the importance of playing senior team football at a young age, he had resisted moves to top clubs in order to continue his development in the lower leagues.

In 2016, Maddison made the move away from his boyhood club, who were no longer able to hold onto their prized asset, and a Β£3m move to Norwich followed.

When the midfielder joined up with Norwich the following summer, Alex Neil did not see him as ready for Championship football. This was a blow for Maddison, who was sure of his ability to perform, however - such is his commitment to learning - he decided to go out on loan.

Instead of heading back to League One, he decided to take up a fresh challenge in Scotland - on loan at Aberdeen.

His return to Norwich in the summer of 2017 was of course a great success, newly appointed manager Daniel Farke was quick to convince Maddison to sign a new contract and what followed was a season to remember for the attacking midfielder.

3. He's Premier League Ready

Maddison was Norwich's best player and undoubtedly one of the standout players in the Championship last season - his spot in the league's team of the season demonstrates as such.

At only 21, he understands the game and has a real maturity about him. He is a graceful and incisive number 10 who has the ability to score brilliant goals. His goal of the month strike against Middlesborough was the standout from the 15 he registered throughout last season.

Not only can he score great goals, but as we saw earlier on in the season against Arsenal, he has the ability to create as well - notching 11 assists.

4. He's Rejected Liverpool in the Past

Maddison certainly looks ready for Premier League football now, but the youngster has been apprehensive over moves to the English's top flight in the past.

The 21-year-old is a self confessed student of the game and is strong in the belief that playing first team football as a youngster is crucial in a players development. Having seen the benefits that the likes of Demarai Gray and Alli experienced rising through the leagues, Maddison was keen to avoid stagnation at a larger club - instead happy to bide his time with Norwich.

Maddison had the opportunity to sign for Liverpool from Coventry in 2015, but he was unprepared to go from first team football in the Under-23s, so he signed for Norwich instead.

He is not one to look back at that move as an opportunity missed and a year later instead of featuring for Liverpool's reserves, he was playing in front of 60,000 at Celtic Park as well as 50,000 in a cup final at Hampden - experiences he will no doubt never forget.
