Since the arrival of Marco Silva and Director of Football Marcel Brands at Everton, the duo have 'placed a key emphasis on youth and young players'.
It's a new start at Goodison. Everton are a club famed for bringing players through their academy - Wayne Rooney particularly springs to mind - and there's plenty more to come.
With that in mind, lets take a look at some of the young players that could impress Silva enough to nail down a starting spot in the squad next season.
1. Mason Holgate
Mason Holgate managed 15 appearances last season, with a couple of injury concerns keeping him out of the team.
Ultimately this year looks to be where the 21-year-old can make his mark, with Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams both into the later stages of their careers.
Holgate is versatile. He began his Everton career playing at right-back but has since been utilised on the right of a back three and at centre back since. But given enough of a chance, Holgate has the opportunity to secure a starting spot alongside Michael Keane.
2. Ademola Lookman
After a successful loan spell at RB Leipzig over the second half of the season, now might be the chance for Lookman to prove himself a starter.
At 20, Lookman has youth on his side and after six goals in 11 appearances for Leipzig, he has added finishing to his locker. Proving his quality, Lookman notched up a hat-trick in Everton's pre-season friendly against Austrian side Irdning.
The winger was also reportedly subject to a £12m bid from Leipzig earlier this week. However, Silva has been quick to quash any rumours that Lookman could leave this summer.
If Lookman continues to perform in the way he has, it would be of no surprise if Silva trusted him with a starting spot.
3. Kieran Dowell
Attacking midfielder Dowell has spent the entirety of last season out on loan at Nottingham Forest in the Championship.
The 20-year-old made a total of 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals.
Dowell has only ever made two appearances for The Toffees, both were made way back in the 2015/16 season.
However, after an impressive loan spell at Forest, it may be Dowell's perfect chance to get more minutes under his belt in the first team. If he performs well enough, he could be difficult to leave out.
4. Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Calvert-Lewin has been in-and-out of the Everton starting line-up for the past couple of seasons, and this year could be his chance to keep his place.
The striker, who can also play out on the wing made a total of 43 appearances last season, notching up eight goals in all competitions.
At 21, the forward is still learning the game but under Silva he has the opportunity to show what he can do, which could well result in a more regular starting spot.
5. Tom Davies
Davies, like Calvert-Lewin, has been in and out of the starting line-up for Everton over the past couple of seasons and Davies has the ability to secure a starting spot.
The 20-year-old centre midfielder has shown glimpses of what he can do in an Everton shirt over the past couple of seasons, making a total of 59 Premier League appearances, scoring four goals.
His good relationship with Idrissa Gueye has proved to be vital during some games last year, and now could be the time to cement that partnership. Silva's ball-playing style of football complements Davies as the type of player that he is.
At his young age, Davies covers a lot of ground which may impress Silva. If Davies was to seize his chance, the U-21 international will be difficult to displace.
