A 58-year-old man has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate's Court for allegedly robbing one Chief Omololu Adegbuyi of his Microsoft phone valued N120,000 while armed with a plastic toy gun. The accused, Omosehinde Peter, was arraigned on Monday on a one-court charge of stealing before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe. Peter, whose residence is unknown, was stated to have committed the offence on February 24, 2015 at Gbagada Junction, Lagos. The police prosecutor, Inspector Eramus Nnamonu, told the court that the offence was contrary to Act, Cap. 398 vol. XX11 of the Federation of Nigeria 1990 as amended. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge but his plea was rejected by the magistrate for the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). The prosecutor however urged the court to remand the accused in prison custody, pending the advice of the DPP, and argued that the court lacks jurisdiction over the matter.
