Students of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, have kicked against the N25,000 damages levy, which the management of the institution asked each of them to pay as reparation for the destruction of properties and facilities during last month protest over the death of a student.

For the record, the management shut down the institution in April, following the protest against the death of one of their colleagues identified as Ojo Afolabi Daniel and announced Monday (tomorrow) as the resumption date, demanding that students must pay N25,000 as damages fee.

The students accused the school management of planning to use the incident as an opportunity to extort them, lamenting that the monetary value of properties allegedly damaged during the protest was not up to N20 million.

The Students Union Government President of the institution, Mr. Adegbola Oluyemi, in his chat with newsmen said the money was too much, calling on the school management to review it.
