“This follows his guilty pleas entered earlier this week.”
He has denied two further charges of s3xual activity with a 15-year-old girl and the trail will resume on Friday morning.
Johnson has also been told by Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce that he will not play for the club against Manchester United this weekend.
Allardyce refused to answer any questions regarding the former England international’s future on Wearside, but did confirm he was not in his first team plans at the moment.
“He will not be available for next weekend,” said Allardyce. “Just this weekend and we see how it goes after that.”
The trial is expected to last for at least two weeks.
