Ahmad Salkida, a Nigerian journalist known to have access to the leadership of Boko Haram, has reacted to the disappearance of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Kanu has not been seen in public since IPOB had a clash with soldiers of the Nigerian army in Abia, last year.

Displeased with his continuous disappearance, over women staged a protest in Owerri, the Imo state capital, but were picked by the security operative and subsequently charged to court.

Apparently displeased with the arrest, AI, in a tweet on Thursday, August 23 on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, said it has begun an investigation in the arrest of the protesters,

The London-based non-governmental organization noted that protest is a human right and not a treason.

AI posted on Twitter: “Amnesty International is investigating disturbing arrest of 114 women peaceful protesters in #Owerri #Imo state, #Nigeria: #ProtestIsNotTreason#ProtestIsAHumanRight”.

Like AI, Mr. Salkida also took to the micro-blogging site to condemn Kanu’s disappearance, saying the “official terrorism” in the country must stop.

He posted on Twitter: “In a supposed democracy, #NnamdiKanu and his family just disappeared and we, as citizens, can go to sleep because we feel we don’t agree with him or his politics? This official terrorism must stop, #FreeOwerri112. #NnamdiKanu‘s crime is not overly big for the courts to handle”.
