The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) mentioned on Friday that it destroyed Boko Haram constructions in Bama, Gobara, Borno state, in its ongoing “Operation Thunder Strike” towards the insurgents within the area.
NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, AVM Olatokunbo Adesanya mentioned the air interdiction was carried out on Tuesday.
He mentioned, “On the second day of the continuing operation 'Thunder Strike', the Air Task Force (ATF) operation Lafiya Dole efficiently performed air interdiction on Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) infested location, 13 Nautical Miles North East of Bama.
“A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) plane had beforehand noticed vital BHT presence within the location.
“Accordingly, the ATF detailed a mixture of fighter plane and helicopter gunships to assault the insurgents’ place.
“Overhead the location, the attack platforms took turns to unleash their ordice on the targets while the NAF ISR aircraft conducted Battle Damage Assessment (BDA),” he mentioned.
He mentioned the Air Task Force later within the day, in continuation of the operation, efficiently performed one other assault on a location in Gobara, 15km Northwest of Gwoza.
“Previous ISR report had indicated that the placement served as a hideout for the insurgents.
