Senate Minority Leader and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), after he returned to the antigraft agency on Saturday morning.
Akpabio, who arrived the EFCC at 11.45 am was accompanied by his counsel and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Rickey Tarfa and some aides.
The former governor upon his arrival, was taken in immediately by operatives of EFCC as those he came with was asked to stay outside.
He was, however, being interrogated as at the time of filing this report.
This is the second time Akpabio will be quizzed by the EFCC in less than 24 hours after his appearance at the agency Friday afternoon.
He was however allowed to leave later in the evening after questioning and asked to report back this morning.
Akpabio had earlier debunked claims that he was arrested by the EFCC insisting that he only honoured their invitation.
The senator who made the disclosure via his official twitter handle stated he was not arrested and he has nothing to hide.
