Bartolo Colon.
His name is right there at top of the list of pitchers who have given up the most home runs to Alex Rodriguez.
His name is also right there on the Mets’ lineup card as the starting pitcher for Thursday night’s Subway Series finale against the Yankees.
Not in the Yankees’ lineup card? Alex Rodriguez.
“I can’t really tell you when I’m going to play him,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Thursday.
A-Rod has right career home runs off Colon. He’s 23-for-52 for a .442 average and 1.077 slugging percentage against Colon. Three of those home runs came in one game when Colon pitched for the Angels.
Rodriguez had one at-bat in a pinch-hitting role in Tuesday’s loss. His last start was as the DH on July 30.
Since July 23, Rodriguez has had seven total at-bats, with one hit as hit average fell to .204.
Rodriguez has 696 career home runs.
“He’s part of our club and he’s going to continue to be part of our club,” Girardi said.
