Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has described allegations in opposition to him of mismanaging about N251.99bn belonging to the state as unfounded and spurious.
A political strain group had requested Fayose to account for a way he spent N251.99b being the quantity that accrued to the state as federal allocation and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) below his reign.
Reacting at a press convention, the Ekiti state Commissioner for Information, Lanre Ogunsuyi, stated that at no time did the federal government obtain N3 billion as month-to-month allocation since Fayose assumed workplace.
He stated: “Even at a time, we have been getting as little as N1.5 billion when the wage invoice was undulating between N2.5 and N2.7 billion. That is why we're paying in arrears.
“It is worrisome that the government has been spending over 90 per cent of the allocation on payment of salaries and pensions and the fact that the allocations were too paltry accounted for why we have been unable to pay up.”
