Governor of Lagos Akinwunmi Ambode has congratulated Kayode Fayemi for his victory in the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state.
Fayemi was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the early hours of Sunday.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 197,459 votes to beat PDP’s Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, who got 178,121 votes.
He won in 12 of the 16 local government areas of the state, including the council of incumbent Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Ambode urged Fayemi to use his second coming to build on its previous achievements.
Fayemi was the governor of the state between 2010 and 2014
The Lagos governor also commended President Muhammadu Buhari, the leadership and members of APC and its supporters for the hard-fought win.
