Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has congratulated former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, on his confirmation as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission.
The Senate confirmed Smith alongside six other members of the Commission on Tuesday, following the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, presented by the Chairman, Senator Abu Ibrahim.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, Ambode described Smith’s confirmation by the Senate as a step in the right direction, adding that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in reforming the Nigeria Police to be more effective, efficient and performance driven.
“Let me seize this medium to congratulate Alhaji Musiliu Smith on his recent appointment and confirmation by the Senate. This is a good step by President Muhammadu Buhari and I have no doubt in my mind that his appointment will provide the necessary leadership that will not only reposition the Police Force to provide top-notch security for Nigerians but also sharpen its image,” Governor Ambode said
