American rapper, Kodak Black has pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and battery stemming from an allegation by a high school student in 2016.
Kodak had been facing charges for alleged felony criminal s3xual conduct in Florence, South Carolina.
The rapper who had previously denied any assault charge pleaded guilty to lesser charges of first-degree assault and battery under a plea deal; for which he received a suspended 10-year sentence but will be on probation for 18 months.
The deal specified that the 23-year-old must also take full responsibility for the incident and publicly apologize to the victim and then undergo counseling sessions.
The mumble rapper’s public apology to the victim read “I apologize to Miss [victim’s name] and am hopeful we can all move forward. I wish her the best in her life.”
Kapri had previously been sentenced to 46 months in prison on a federal weapons charge, but his sentence was commuted by Trump near the end of his term. Trump also pardoned Lil Wayne for a felony gun possession charge.
The s3xual assault case was brought on the state level, and thus ineligible for a presidential pardon. Under the terms of Kapri’s probation, he can't use drugs, drink alcohol, or possess guns.
