Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as shameful, allegations by some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) politicians that the party was behind the death of the first civilian governor of the state, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.
The state APC in a statement issued yesterday in Yenagoa, by its Publicity Secretary, Fortune Panebi, described the allegation as a wicked way of playing politics with the demise of the former governor. The party said the allegation was a clear attempt by the incumbent administration in the state to cover up its inadequacies in the area of health facilities despite claims by Governor Seriake Dickson's administration that it had spent billions of naira in upgrading and refurbishing medical facilities in the state.
The APC, while commiserating with the family of the bereaved, noted that if Dickson was the people's governor as he claimed, he would have responded before the health condition worsened.
The party said: β€œThe incident has once again, exposed the many lies and deceit of Dickson over issues concerning the Ijaw nation. If the β€˜Governor General of the Ijaw nation’ was treated shabbily and with disdain, anybody can fall victim of the same incident from Dickson.”
