The ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), has engaged its internal auditors across the country in an intensive training, asking national and state officers of the party to give utmost consideration to the current drive for probity and accountability by conducting their affairs in a transparent manner. The APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie- Oyegun, who spoke at a training workshop held yesterday in Abuja for state auditors from the 36 states of the federation, told the party officials that the victory at the polls has imposed greater responsibility and expectations on the APC which must be met. He said the activities of APC is now beginning to attract greater interest of the general public and the international community due to its present status as the governing party. “I want to remind you that the great victory, even comes with a greater sense of commitment and responsibility, now that we are in government and in line with the party manifesto and change mantra," he stated. “I call it a journey because all of us must be involved and no one can be left behind in this new order of management of affairs our great but long suffering country, we must bear in mind that we are the change agents worthy of emulation. “You will agree with me that our victory at the polls has laid on our shoulders more responsibility and exemplary leadership and we cannot emphasize that too much.” APC National Auditor, Chief George Muoghalu, said the task before him is to establish a well structured internal audit department that would meet an acceptable world standard and ensure transparency. As stated by Muoghalu, his tenure as APC National Auditor will not count as successful unless the structures of the party at the national and state levels are made functional and vibrant. He said the intention of the workshop was to try and close the existing gaps between the National Auditor and those at the state levels, adding: “Our party is a ‘going concern’ and every effort geared to safeguard its assets, reduce waste and ensure accurate financial reporting should be prioritized.”
