The Gunners are six points off top spot following their defeat to Manchester United on Sunday - and their supporters have been accused of being culpable for their poor displays
Arsenal fans are as much to blame for the team’s poor performances as the players, according to Joey Barton.
After a defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League, the Gunners have been left six points off top spot following a 3-2 loss at Manchester United on Sunday, although they can cut that gap to three with a victory over Swansea City on Wednesday evening.
But the Burnley midfielder believes the Gunners supporters are also culpable for the poor performances by Arsene Wenger’s side.
“You look at the fans, you talk about goals at the stadium, I think the fans can contribute to it,” said Barton on BBC 5 Live.
Henry: Arsenal lack commitment
“The atmosphere today [at Leicester City] will be absolutely electric. The same was it was Saturday. because they know they can cheer the team on and almost influence the team to play with an intensity and with a tempo. “Arsenal fans have to be as culpable as the team. Because they are very quick to turn on the manager and very quick to boo.”
