The 23-year-old made his first competitive in over a year for the Championship club and was given a standing ovation following after scoring three goals against Reading
On-loan Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo dazzled on his full debut for Charlton Athletic as he scored a hat-trick in a 4-3 defeat to Reading.
The 23-year-old initially joined Ajax on loan last summer but made only four first-team appearances before returning to the Gunners in January.
Sanogo’s start in Saturday’s clash at The Valley was his first in over a year and he needed just seven minutes to get off the mark with a powerful finish past Ali Al-Habsi.
By half-time, Charlton, who sit bottom of the Championship, were trailing 3-1 but Sanogo struck four minutes after the break to give his new side a lifeline.
And the on-loan Arsenal man looked to have rescued a point with his equaliser six minutes before the full-time whistle.
But Charlton, who have won only one game since November 21, were denied a point when Deniss Rakels struck in the second minute of injury time.
