Some aspirants contesting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Osun State governorship primaries have withdrawn from the race shortly before the beginning of the exercise.

The aspirants who withdrew from the primaries are, Professor Adeolu Durotoye; former Minister of Youth Development, Olasunkanmi Akinlabi and Felix Ogunwale.

Other aspirants are: Lere Oyewunmi; former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adejare Bello; Jide Adeniji; Ayoade Adewopo.

With the withdrawal, the primary election is now between Senator Ademola Adeleke; former Secretary to the State Government, Fatai Akinbade; the Chairman, Mutual Assurance, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi and Nathaniel Oke ( SAN).

The Chairman of the Osun State PDP Governorship Primary Election, Seriake Dickson, vowed that the primaries would be free, fair and credible.

Dickson said the delegates would pick the most popular aspirant as the candidate of the party in the governorship election holding on September 22.
