Striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on Tuesday agreed to suspend their strike which has lingered over the last three months. The decision of the workers to return to work was made known on Tuesday afternoon by Clement Chiamen, the National Publicity Secretary of the Union.

The decision to suspend the strike came on the heels of a meeting of the union’s members with members of the National Assembly and a number of Ministers some days ago. After the meeting ASUP’s National Executive Committee agreed to meet for a consideration of the offer from the government.

With the end of the 81-day old strike, life is expected to return to campuses of all the polytechnics across the country.
