Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has counseled the National Assembly on its resolution to revisit the problem of state police within the ongoing structure evaluation to deal with insecurity within the nation.
Abubakar, in a assertion issued by his Media workplace on Thursday in Abuja, stated that the lawmakers had by their motion demonstrated braveness in seizing the initiative to intervene within the nation safety disaster.
He also stated that decisive motion was wanted to deal with the present safety challenges within the nation.
Abubakar stated that given the seeming helplessness of the residents, NASS had accountability to present authorized enamel to the creation of state police as a result of frequent lethal assaults.
“A peculiar disaster calls for a decisive motion, and I'm a hundred percent behind the National Assembly in its efforts to strengthen the palms of state governments in offering safety to their residents.
“Nigeria must show, by words and action, that the lives of our armed forces and the police and indeed, of any Nigerian matter to us. Even one loss of life is a loss too many,” the assertion reads.
He prolonged his condolences to the households and colleagues of the seven policemen killed in Abuja within the line of responsibility on Tuesday.
