Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed he was close to joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2012 - only to turn them down due to their 'weird' business dealings.
The two clubs meet in Thursday's Europa League last-16 first leg at Westfalenstadion, with both enjoying successful domestic campaigns, sitting in second place in their respective leagues.
While Aubameyang may have confessed his previous courtship with Spurs during his time at French club St-Etienne, the 26-year-old is adamant that the London club's attitude at that time has put him off any future move to White Hart Lane.
“In the end everything became a bit weird – I didn’t really like the way things were done,” Aubameyang revealed to The Guardian. “If Spurs ever came back in me for me, I’d say no.”
Aubameyang has been in prolific form this season, scoring 32 goals in all competitions, and was named African Footballer of the Year in 2015, beating Manchester City's Yaya Toure and Swansea City's Andre Ayew to the prize.
