The new Audi A4 Allroad isn’t bringing something new to the table, however, it fills the vacant hole left by the A4 Avant State-side.

Premiering for the first time at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the new estate comes standard with Audi’s all-wheel-drive system (duh) and sports the same tailored elements that transformed previous generations of Allroads from regular estates into daring, adventuring cross-overs.

So, when it comes to the exterior, don’t expect anything however, a lifted A4 Avant with a higher ground clearance and body cladding. However, don’t get us wrong, not anything about this model is rugged goodness – even if its new version of the “Audi Drive Select” comes with an off-road mode in addition to the existing comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency and individual functions – as its sports a chrome-rich front grille and can also be commissioned with 17 inch or 19-inch wheels; traits that make the car a suitable choice for a wide array of occasions.

Mind you, even though in Europe the A4 Allroad will come with a plethora of powerplants for buyers to choose from, including five TDI engines, in the US, the car will be sold exclusively with a 2.0-litre turbocharged gas for-banger, rated at 252PS (249hp) and 273 lb-ft of torque.

Ingolstadt’s newest rival to the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the A4 sedan, was also present at the Auto Show, accompanying the all-terrain variant in the line-up.
