The Brisbane Premier League side were trailing 6-1 with less than 30 minutes remaining before a raft of substitutions saw them pull level and go on to win 8-6 in extra time
Forget Liverpool against AC Milan in 2005, Newcastle against Arsenal in 2011 or even Sweden against Germany in 2012... Gold City Coast have those famous comebacks beat after coming from 6-1 down to win 8-6!
The Brisbane Premier League outfit were taking on lower-league opposition in Holland Park in the BLK Silver Boot pre-season friendly tournament, with the winner taking third place.
Holland Park, who were promoted to the top division as Capital League 1 champions last season, took advantage of Gold City Coast's weakened second-string line-up to storm into a 4-0 half-time lead.
Gold City Coast got on the scoresheet early in the second half but, come the 61st minute, they were trailing 6-1 and head coach Grae Piddick started throwing on more experienced players. Then it began.
Daniel Dragicevic added his second on 70 minutes before Lyndon Dykes got the first of his hat-trick as the hosts took the game into extra time with an equaliser three minutes from time through Tim Jackson.
Dykes than added his fourth and Gold Coast's seventh to put the team ahead for the first time in the game before Rhys Saunders put the result beyond doubt with eight minutes of extra time remaining.
