Barcelona have suffered a couple of injury blows in the first leg of their Spanish Supercopa encounter against Sevilla, with Jeremy Mathieu and Andres Iniesta both going off during the opening period of the match.
The France international, who missed Euro 2016 due to a physical complaint, was the first to suffer as he went down midway through the first half with an injury to his right hamstring. Lucas Digne, signed in the summer from Paris Saint-Germain, came onto the field to replace him.
Iniesta departed the fray less than 10 minutes later, though his substitution appeared to be more of a precautionary measure with the club later confirming he had suffered only a bruised right knee and, along with Mathieu, will have further tests on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury.
Barca are already missing Neymar from their Supercopa fixtures due to the striker’s ongoing pursuit of Olympic gold with Brazil in Rio.
