A confident youngster with quick feet and a penchant for skills, the Toffees centre-back would feel at home at Camp Nou, according to the Anfield legend
Former Liverpool defender Alan Hansen believes Barcelona would be a perfect fit for Everton centre-back John Stones.
Stones' performances for the Toffees has seen him become one of the most coveted defenders in Europe, with a raft of the continent's elite sides being credited with an interest.
Chelsea are said to have had no less than three bids rejected for the young defender, with reports suggesting only offers above £50 million will be considered.
Only a handful of clubs would be able to match Everton's valuation of the player, however, and Hansen believes Barcelona would be an ideal destination for the Englishman to continue refining his game.
"In a footballing sense, and this is purely a footballing consideration, Barcelona would be perfect for him," he told the Mirror.
"The way he plays, and the way they play, would be the ideal match-up. Yes, they have some unbelievable talents higher up the pitch, but they haven’t lost a football match for five months because they don’t give many goals away.
"I hope he stays in England and I would like to see him mature at Everton. It would be great for them, and for Merseyside, to see a kid who came through the ranks at Barnsley and moving to a Premier League club at 18 years of age going all the way to the top.
"But if you want my honest opinion, I think one of the big boys will come in and get him."
