The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently collating the results trickling in from various polling units of the Southern Ijaw local government and few other polling units where the rerun was held.
The exercise although, had a slight difference from the previous one as it was equally marred with irregularities despite the sizeable number of security operatives drafted to the area.
No fewer than 14 persons were reportedly killed in a separate upheaval having to do with hijacking of ballot boxes and disruption of the exercise.
The governor of the state, Seriake Dickson, yesterday, in a sympathetic mood decried the killings just as he also demanded that such culprits be brought to book.
This was just as he accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being the mastermind of the unrest.
Meanwhile, Governor Dickson’s earlier lead at the previous election still subsists as the unofficial results collated at various polling units clearly lend credence to this.
The final result as it stands has PDP leading with 108,062 votes while APC struts behind with 74,979 votes giving the incumbent an edge of 33,083 votes.
More to come...
