A Benin Prince, Osmond Eweka has been accused of defrauding about 250 job seekers after promising them high-paying jobs in New York.
He was arraigned in a Manhattan court on Thursday, where he pleaded guilty to charges of larceny and fraudulent activities.
Eweka, 31, and his accomplice were arrested by police officers at the Manhattan police district in New York.
The Prince who hails from the Royal Family of Ogiesoba and his 27-year-old friend, Kamel Mckay, made their clients believe that they operated two consulting firms in Manhattan, claiming that if they pay a particular fee, they would engage them in high-paying jobs, Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, reports.
As stated by the prosecutors, some of the jobs the Prince and his partner promised victims were front desk receptionists, hotel and housekeeping.
It was gathered that these men use job-seeking website Indeed.com to find their victims.
