The Algeria midfielder will undergo surgery and may not play again this season after suffering the injury in an Under-21 match against Leicester City on Friday
Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is unlikely to play again this season after being ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury.
Bentaleb was injured playing in Tottenham's Under-21 victory over Leicester City on Friday and will undergo surgery.
"We can confirm that [Bentaleb] has undergone surgery to his left knee," Tottenham announced on Twitter.
"The expected recovery and rehabilitation period is likely to see him return to training in six weeks."
Bentaleb emerged as one of Spurs' most promising young players last season but has endured an injury-hit 2015-16 campaign.
An ankle injury allowed Eric Dier to establish himself as Mauricio Pochettino's first-choice defensive midfielder and Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele, Ryan Mason and Tom Carroll also appear to have moved ahead of him in the pecking order.
Tottenham, who sit second in the Premier League with seven matches remaining, are five points adrift of leaders Leicester City and take on Liverpool on April 2 after the international break.
