Benue State All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended 12 of its erring members for what it described as anti-party activities during the last elections in the state.
Those suspended include Senator Joseph Waku, former governorship aspirant of the party, Hon Emmanuel Jime, Mrs Dorothy Mato, Sunny Odugbo, Justice Utsaha and John Usaka.
Others are: Matthew Nezan, Frank Utoo, Linda Ogbeche, Avine Agbum, Ojogbani Adai and Enayi Onaji.
The suspension was announced yesterday by Benue APC chairman, Comrade Abba Yaro,at the party secretariat in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
While announcing the suspension, Yaro pointed out that “their offences are very grievous and the party hierarchy wouldn't condone any sabotage on the part of its stalwarts; so this action is to serve as a deterrent to those who feel they are superior and cannot obey laid down orders.”
Based on what was gathered, the suspended APC members are those considered to be bigger than the party and who have often times brag and could not heed to superior decision of the party's hierarchy.
It could be recalled that few days ago, APC state executive committee met and took the decision to suspend the members after they were said to have refused to heed the party's advice to withdraw cases they had filed before courts against party candidates.
Jime is challenging the emergence of Governor Samuel Ortom as the party's gubernatorial candidate in the last general elections while Mrs. Mato is challenging the emergence of Herman Hembe as flag-bearer for Jechira federal constituency.
Utoo is challenging the emergence of Tarkigir Dickson as APC candidate for Makurdi/Guma federal constituency just as Agbum is faulting the nomination of the member representing Makurdi South state constituency.
