The new performance-focused BMW M760Li xDrive, the closest the company has got to an M7, will be unveiled in North America at the New York Auto Show in April, following on from its global debut in Geneva.

The first M760Li xDrive models will arrive in the United States in early 2017 and represent the pinnacle of the 7-Series range, offering a legitimate alternative to the Mercedes-Benz S63 and S65 AMG.

While the new Alpina B7 has a twin-turbo V8, the BMW-branded opposition has a twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 that pumps out 592 hp at 5,500 rpm and 590 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 rpm. Coupled to that massive engine is an 8-speed automatic transmission powering all four wheels and resulting in a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of just 3.9 seconds as well as an electronically limited 250 km/h (155 mph) top speed.

Like the B7, the M760Li xDrive is adorned with a plethora of eye-catching design elements that make it stand out. They include larger front air intakes, different twin five-spoke wheels, bright blue brake calipers and quad rectangular exhausts.

Pricing details have yet to be announced.
