With 29,017 deliveries made in North America last month, the BMW brand recorded a 6.4 percent drop compared to May 2015, when it sold 31,003 cars.
The best improved models were the new X1 that posted  a +93.9 percent increase, followed by the X3 that was up 28.0 percent, and the X6 at +26.0 percent. However, highest volume sales continue to come from the 3-Series range, with 7,376 units finding new homes, joined by the X5, 4-Series and 5-Series, in this order.

"The shorter number of selling days in May no doubt affected the month totals but the ongoing transition to X models remains clear. The BMW X1 grows more popular each month with its siblings X3 and X6 giving it strong support. The X5 was limited only by availability but that will continue improving in the months ahead", said BMW North America President and CEO, Ludwig Willisch,

Motorcycle sales dropped by 40.0 percent last month and year-to-date, the BMW brand is down 8.7 percent. MINI USA didn’t do so good either, witnessing a 21.2 decrease last month, from 5,833 to 4,595 units. Leading the way was the Countryman, with 1,236 examples delivered, down 30.1 percent, followed shortly by the Cooper S 2-door and 4-door.
