Boca Juniors starlet Rodrigo Bentancur affirmed there has been no formal approach from Real Madrid, but that he is flattered by the interest shown in him.
The 18-year-old Uruguayan has been heavily linked to the Santiago Bernabeu, where he would most likely line up for the Castilla B team on arrival.
Boca president Daniel Angelici has insisted there have been no bids for his young star, but Bentancur could not hide his delight at the speculation.
"I found out through my agent and through the media, and it is of course a great honour and a source of pride for a club like Real Madrid to be interested," he told Marca.
"I should also point out, in the interests of honesty, that no formal offer has arrived. That means nothing is certain."
Despite the rumours over his exit, Bentancur underlined his loyalty to Boca, where he broke through into the senior ranks during the title-winning campaign of 2015.
"All I know is that I owe everything to the club, 100 per cent," he said.
"I have two years left [on my contract] and until someone says otherwise my goal is to fight for this shirt
"What I want more than anything is to play. We shall see where, but for now I am only thinking about staying in Argentina."
