Troops in the North-East State of Borno have conveyed 398 internally displaced persons, IDPs, back to Gwoza, former caliphate of the Boko Haram terrorists group in preparations for the resettlement of victims in their various communities.

A statement on Wednesday, from the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman Kukasheka said troops of 22 Brigade “has conducted operations in which it cleared four towns and villages where they recovered weapons and rescued 400 persons held hostages by the terrorists.”

As stated by the statement, “yesterday afternoon, troops of the 3 Battalion convoy from Dikwa to Gamboru Ngala unknowingly stepped on series of improvised explosive devices, IEDs buried by suspected Boko Haram terrorists between Gajibo and Logomani, where a soldier was killed and four others and a civilian vigilante sustained injuries.”

The state added that, “troops of 26 task force Brigade also ambushed Boko Haram terrorists yesterday at Uvaha, killing many of them while troops of 114 task force Battalion rescued another 72 persons held hostages by Boko Haram terrorists at Jaje.”
