Western Region, Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo, has been buried in Ekiti State.
Glowing tributes poured in for the former governor, who died in Lagos on March 8, 2017, aged 88, at both his funeral service and at the burial site.
Adebayo was governor of the old Western Region from 1966 to 1971.
Acting President Yemi Osinbajo was among those who attended the funeral service of the late Adebayo at the All Saints Anglican Church in his hometown Iyin-Ekiti in Ekiti State.
On Friday, when his corpse was received in Ekiti, the state governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, had led tributes to him, saying, “We are celebrating General Adebayo today because he had paid his dues. He had done Ekiti and Nigeria proud as a disciplined military man.
“Baba in his lifetime did his best. He was a symbol of hope for the present generation, the coming one and the one yet unborn.”
