President Muhammadu Buhari has said the ruling All Progressives Congress did all it could to prevent its 51 members in the National Assembly from leaving the party.
Fourteen senators and 37 members of the House of Representatives announced their defections from the APC to the PDP on Tuesday.
Buhari, in a statement, noted that he had no hard feelings towards the lawmakers, while wishing them well in their future endeavours.
The President also pledged his commitment to work with all members of the National Assembly to move Nigeria forward.
”The saying goes, all politics is local. We understand that some of the distinguished and honorable lawmakers have issues with their home states, especially on zoning which bars some of them from seeking another term in their constituencies,” he said in a statement.
