Former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly Eugene Odoh has said it is only the National Assembly that has the power to restructure Nigeria.
As stated by Odoh, contrary to opinions, President Mohammadu Buhari does not have the capacity to do that and should thus not be blamed.
He said restructuring is the work of the legislature, not the executive.
“Restructuring could be gotten easily through quality representation,” Odoh said at an event in Ukehe over the weekend when he declared to contest for Enugu North Senatorial seat.
“The President has no power to restructure; it is the national assembly. Restructuring is amending the law to give more powers to the states with a view to creating true federalism and the only people vested with such powers are the legislators at the national level.
“When you talk about Executive/legislative feud, you merely talk of the absence of political engagement.”
