The youth wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has claimed that the current honour on acclaimed winner of June 12 1993 election late M.Ok.O Abiola is a transfer to appease the Yorubas.
Buhari had earlier this week conferred an award on the late Abiola and adjusted the Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12.
However, the Ohanaeze youths in an assertion on Saturday, stated the event is “to appease the Yoruba of South west.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide is telling President Muhammadu Buhari to increase such gesture to Ndigbo, by sponsoring an Executive Bill to the National Assembly, for an extra state to the People of Southeast as an option to appropriate the structural imbalance of Southeast having solely 5 states.
“Such Executive invoice will assist to unravel some structural points almost about making Ndigbo to be at per with different geo-political zones. President Muhammadu Buhari will win the hearts of Igbos if there’s an extra state within the Southeast.
“OYC insists that President Muhammadu Buhari having honoured M.K.O Abiola and co, should extend that gesture to the man who conducted the 1993 Presidential election, Professor Humphrey Nwosu.”
In addition, the assertion stated, “We know that President Muhammadu Buhari will need to have forgotten Professor Humphrey Nwosu within the listing of these he just lately honoured. For Nwosu to have fearlessly performed such an election adjudged because the freest and fairest election in Nigeria, he needs to be subsequent within the listing after Abiola.
“We call on the Federal Government to consider the immediate upgrading of Akanu Ibiam Airport Enugu and acceleration of work in the second Niger bridge.”
